    Product update - September 2026

    TABLE OF CONTENTS:

In September, we shipped capabilities that let your team spend less time on manual data collection, diagram creation, and inventory updates, and more time on architectural decisions: The survey experience has been rebuilt for speed and data quality. AI agents can now build and edit architecture diagrams on your behalf, and MCP-connected workflows have full write access to create and update fact sheets directly. Coming in October: custom discovery integrations, SAP Business AI Platform subscription discovery, Jira Service Management enhancements, and the introduction of the committed future.

      Announcements

      Upcoming major changes

Inbox automations will not ship in September as originally planned. We apologize for the delay and will share an updated timeline as soon as it is confirmed.

      Recent feature releases

Make data collection faster with a survey experience rebuilt from the ground up

The rebuilt experience connects every step of the survey process to your meta model and inventory, from initial configuration to how stakeholder responses are written back.

The AI of your workspace's Enterprise Architecture Assistant helps you set up and scope surveys from a plain-language description and support recipients as they answer. On top of that, all stakeholder responses are captured for review before being written back to the inventory, replacing the previous last-response-overwrites behavior. Surveys can also be automatically triggered by fact sheet events, such as a quality seal breaking or a fact sheet approaching end-of-life, helping keep data quality in check without manual campaigns. And because survey questions are always mapped directly to the meta model, there is no longer a separate configuration to maintain.

One thing to plan for: Information collected in legacy surveys that lacks a corresponding entry in the meta model (e.g., basic questions) needs to be added to your meta model. We will provide guidance to help with this in Q4 2026.

The new experience will run alongside the existing one until March 31, 2027, giving you time to get started with it at your own pace. Your historic survey data will always remain accessible, including a download option.

Build and maintain architecture diagrams through AI agents

Keeping diagrams aligned with your inventory becomes faster without switching to the diagram editor for every update, giving architects more time for analyses and decisions that shape them. AI agents connected to your workspace via the MCP server can now create, populate, and edit diagrams directly from your inventory.

You describe what you want to see, and the agent adds fact sheets to a canvas, adds relations you ask for from your meta model, updates labels, adds annotations, and searches diagrams across your workspace.

This is an initial release. Views and layouts, diagram templates, and EA Assistant support for diagrams are coming next. One thing to note: diagrams created or edited through MCP do not generate a preview thumbnail until the diagram is opened and saved in the editor. The diagram content itself is saved correctly.

Update your inventory through natural language with expanded MCP write access

Previously, MCP write access was limited to a small number of toolsets. Changes to most of your inventory still required switching to the UI, regardless of which AI tool you were working in.

You can now create, update, and delete fact sheets directly from the AI tool you are working in, without switching to the inventory UI for every change. Instead of spending time on routine updates, you can update fields, relations, tags, subscriptions, and more through conversational prompts and focus on the architectural actions that build on the data. This makes it easier for business users, such as application owners, to interact with workspace data without in-depth knowledge of the workspace UI.

MCP access respects individual user permissions, meaning access to domains such as surveys and architecture decisions may vary depending on a user's role. Write operations are disabled by default for all roles except admins, and admins can centrally enable or disable MCP access in the administration area.

      Features in progress

Extend discovery to any API endpoint

Every enterprise runs some environments that fall outside standard SAP LeanIX connectors: emerging AI platforms, homegrown systems, and niche vendor tools. Without a custom connector, keeping these visible in your inventory relies on manual updates. Building one yourself means external hosting, credential management, and engineering overhead to keep it running.

Coming in October, the custom discovery connector eliminates that overhead. An AI-assisted flow generates the integration code from a description of the source and what should be discovered, and the integration runs directly inside your workspace. Discovered items land in a dedicated review area for keeping full control over what lands in your inventory.

Synchronize Jira Service Management data with expanded mapping and filtering controls

The Jira Service Management integration keeps your Jira Service Management objects and your inventory in sync, but because both platforms model data differently, precise synchronization remains challenging.

Coming in October, you can configure the integration more precisely to keep your inventory current without manual corrections on either side. A customizable candidate matching rule determines how Jira Service Management records map to fact sheets. Dedicated mapping controls for subscriptions, URLs, tag groups, and field values ensure data lands correctly in both systems. A filter capability lets you scope the integration to the records that matter to your team. Lifecycle date synchronization then automatically keeps the EA roadmap and IT component lifecycle dates current in both systems, without manual updates in either.

The Jira Service Management integration is available in workspaces with SAP Technology Risk and Compliance.

Discover and track BTP service subscriptions across your entire account hierarchy

SAP Business AI Platform brings together data, AI, application development, automation, and integration into a single environment, with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) at its core. BTP sits at the heart of many enterprise IT landscapes, and understanding what runs across it is critical to an accurate IT inventory.

Visibility into BTP services today is limited in two ways: without BTP admin access, teams have no direct visibility into which services are running. And even with admin access, the view is scoped to a single account, with no cross-account perspective across the full landscape.

Coming in October, BTP subscription discovery brings BTP services into your inventory as IT component fact sheets and automatically reflects your account hierarchy, organized by department, geography, or stage. You get a clearer, more accurate view of your full BTP estate without relying on BTP admin teams to manually consolidate data across accounts.
