In August, we shipped enhancements that let your team spend less time maintaining architecture data and more time using it. The EA Assistant can now update your inventory in bulk and research live market data on your behalf, and the MCP server is easier to use and more cost-efficient. Coming in September: collect architecture data faster, interact with your inventory through natural language, and get more flexibility in how you visualize relationships in diagrams.

Keep fact sheet data current at scale, with less manual overhead

Keeping your architecture inventory accurate across dozens or hundreds of fact sheets has traditionally meant opening records one by one. You can now describe the changes you want in natural language and apply them across your entire selection in one step, directly from the inventory table.

The Enterprise Architecture Assistant gained a new capability directly in the inventory table: it proposes updates across multiple fact sheets based on your intent, and you can review, adjust, and approve them in line before anything is saved. The suggestions are generated from structured data in your workspace, unstructured documents, and web research, and are available directly in the inventory table.

Additionally, you can use natural language queries to filter and search fact sheets in the inventory UI. The system interprets your query and automatically applies the corresponding filters to narrow down the list of fact sheets.​

Research, compare, and enrich your architecture with live market data

Your team can now make portfolio and technology decisions with current vendor intelligence at hand, without the manual effort of researching external sources and reconciling findings back into the workspace.

The Enterprise Architecture Assistant can now search the public web on your behalf. Ask it to surface vendor lifecycle status, compare technology options against your existing landscape, or pull in market developments relevant to your portfolio. Results are grounded in your workspace, so the information is immediately relevant to the decisions you are making. You can also create fact sheets directly through agentic chat. Every response includes inline source citations, and nothing in your workspace changes without your explicit approval.

Unlock all MCP server capabilities and reduce token consumption by at least 40%

AI assistants connected to your workspace through the MCP server can now find and apply the right tools on their own, rather than being limited to the default set they were connected with. If you have ever used an AI assistant to query your workspace via the MCP server and found that some tools were missing, this is likely why. For admins building or managing those connections, this also reduces the initial token cost of each agent session by at least 40%.

With progressive tool discovery, agents search for the capabilities they need on demand rather than loading everything upfront. This makes every capability reachable without per-connection configuration, and is now the recommended default for most workspaces. For agents with a narrow, fixed set of requirements, explicit toolset selection remains available.

Admins can enable progressive tool discovery under Administration → MCP Server. We are rolling it out as an opt-in so you can test it with your existing agents first.

Make data collection faster with a survey experience rebuilt from the ground up

Releasing in September, a rebuilt survey experience will make it faster, more reliable, and directly connected to your inventory to collect architectural data from stakeholders.

The AI of your workspace's Enterprise Architecture Assistant will help you set up and scope surveys from a plain-language description and support recipients as they answer. On top of that, all stakeholder responses will be captured for review before being written back to the inventory, replacing the previous last-response-overwrites behavior. Surveys can also be automatically triggered by fact sheet events, such as a quality seal breaking or a fact sheet approaching end-of-life, helping keep data quality in check without manual campaigns. And because survey questions will always map directly to the meta model, there is no longer a separate configuration to maintain.

One thing to plan for: Information collected in surveys that does not have a corresponding entry in the meta model (basic questions) will need to be added to your meta model. We will provide guidance to help with this.

The new experience will run alongside the existing one until March 31, 2027, giving you time to get started with it at your own pace. Your historic survey data will always remain accessible, including a download option. Full documentation with more details will be available on the SAP Help Portal at launch.

Update your inventory through natural language with expanded MCP write access

Starting October 1, 2026, AI agents and workflows can keep your inventory up to date automatically by creating, updating, and deleting fact sheets directly through the MCP server. It is designed to let you interact with your inventory through natural language and AI-assisted workflows, not just query it.

This opens up significant opportunities to automate data maintenance that today requires manual interaction with the inventory. Instead of spending time on routine updates, you can handle them through conversational prompts in your AI tool of choice and focus on the architectural actions that build on the data.

MCP access will then respect individual user permissions, meaning access to surveys and architecture decisions may vary depending on a user's role. As of August 31, admins can centrally activate or deactivate MCP access in the administration area to prepare for the October release.

See how fact sheets connect across multiple relations without losing inventory sync

Planned for September, you will be able to show more than one relation type from the same fact sheet at the same drill-down level in a diagram, for example, provided and consumed interfaces side by side, while keeping the data automatically synced with your inventory. Until now, that kind of flexibility required detaching the drill-down box from your inventory, which meant manually maintaining the data.
