Reference catalogs converging into one catalog

The different catalogs in SAP LeanIX will soon converge into one reference catalog. This will break down the boundaries between different reference content and enable a more uniform and comprehensive use of data.

Our reference catalogs contain best-practice recommendations for business capabilities and tech categories, information on SaaS applications, and soft- and hardware lifecycles (available in workspaces with Technology Risk and Compliance). Merging these different catalogs into a single source of truth will bring all this information together in one place.

The alignment of the SaaS and Lifecycle catalogs in February 2024 was the first step in this direction. Next, on August 7, the different catalog names ('SaaS Catalog' and 'Lifecycle Catalog', for example) will be unified into 'Reference Catalog' throughout the different workspace areas. Access to the catalog will remain at the same place on the inventory's side panel. Still, there will be a dedicated 'Reference Catalog' section with links to reference data for the different fact sheet types.

The range of industry-specific business capability content was recently updated and grew from 4 to 15 different industries, with the reference business architecture being available. We aim to replace the former business capability catalog with the new content in September 2024.
