Product update - September 2025
In the past few weeks, our product and engineering teams have yet again enhanced SAP LeanIX. A highlight is the highly anticipated drill-down in landscape reports that you know from matrix reports. With the AI agent hub and an MCP server, exciting new AI-empowered capabilities are coming up before the end of the year. Enjoy reading about all the exciting details and the outlook on the product's near future.
Announcements
Check your workspace status at SAP for Me
Since earlier this month, you can access SAP for Me from the main navigation bar's support widget (headset icon) in your workspace. After October 10, this access will also be available in workspaces with a subscription on a former LeanIX contract. Then, SAP for Me will be the single access point for admins that aggregates important alerts, metrics, and insights about your SAP product portfolio, including SAP LeanIX.
From there, you can check the live and historic availability status and read about maintenance for your individual workspace(s). This individualized status reporting replaces the former SAP LeanIX status page. You can also set up to receive email notifications about scheduled downtimes and incidents from there. We would recommend that you do it before the former status page goes offline on October 31st.
Recent feature releases
Drill down to related fact sheets on landscape reports
With the drill-down on the landscape report, a highly anticipated and frequently voted roadmap item has just been released. Similarly to matrix reports, you have the option in the report settings to select relations to visualize them in the report. New and different from matrix reports is the availability of color-codings for the drill-down items selectable in the "View" drop-down.
Seeing the supporting applications and their lifecycle on a business capability map or the obsolescence risk posting IT components on an application landscape are just two of many ways to use this setting.
Get guidance when linking applications to business capabilities
Knowing which business capabilities an application supports is essential for driving almost any decision and planning in application portfolio management. To ensure this relationship is correctly documented in your inventory, we guide users with immediate contextual recommendations above the list of available business capabilities. The smart recommendations are based on the semantic similarities of fact sheet display names and descriptions in your workspaces. You'll see these suggestions when adding relations on the application's fact sheets detail page and during inline editing in the inventory's table view.
This streamlined approach replaces the previous recommendations in the "Name & Description" subsection, making it faster and easier to map applications to business capabilities with confidence.
Compare the content of different diagram versions
It can be challenging to visually identify the disparities between two versions of a diagram edited by various users. To help you spot the changes and assess their significance, we have added a comparison of diagram versions.
Selecting "Compare Changes" in the overflow menu (three dots) on a prior diagram version shows color-coded highlighting (green for additions, red for removals, yellow for modifications), a side-by-side view of differences, and an additional text-based summary similar to a changelog, offering instantaneous insights into what has changed in a diagram over time.
Check out various learning assets for SAP's integrated toolchain
The integrated toolchain helps transform your ERP systems with confidence by orchestrating the different dimensions of people, processes, applications, and data through connected work in SAP LeanIX, SAP Signavio, and SAP Cloud ALM.
It provides a single source of truth, improves collaboration between business and IT, and ensures employees adopt changes quickly. Make your modernization projects faster, less risky, and more successful. The integrated toolchain builds the foundation for continuous innovation, leveraging the SAP Business Suite.
Today, we want to share these educational assets to help you leverage the integrated toolchain more efficiently in your transformations.

Empower governance of AI agents across your enterprise
In November, we'll introduce unique discovery capabilities of AI agents to optimize the adoption of your AI strategy with streamlined insights and governance across your organization.
Through the AI agent hub and an extension to the meta model, you will get the automated foundation to build your agentic governance. This centralized hub will be licensed as an additional commercial product based on the number of agents in the workspace. It will help you manage the full lifecycle of AI agents – whether they are pre-built (e.g., by SAP) or custom-built on agentic platforms by vendors such as Microsoft.
The types of agents that can be discovered and modeled include those that are part of an application, standalone ones, and workflow orchestrating agents. Like other discoveries, visibility will be created through results in an inbox that can be imported to your inventory as a new "AI Agent" subtype of the application fact sheet. Even without leveraging the AI agent hub, you can benefit from the optional meta model extension to unlock the operational and financial value by optimizing agent impact and streamlining governance.
Control over your AI technology landscape will be realized with surrounding features of specific reports, an AI agents dashboard, dedicated KPIs for executive dashboards, and a portal for users to search for agents and learn about their approval.
After the initial release, we also plan to discover MCP servers and add discovery sources for additional major vendors.
Build agentic AI workflows with the MCP server
With a release before the end of the year, a new Model Context Protocol (MCP) server will connect your workspaces' functionality and the data in your inventory with AI assistants. You will be able to interact with agents, acting as MCP clients, using natural language, making it easier to retrieve fact sheet data, create architecture decisions, manage initiatives, and perform many more tasks. It will also empower AI agents to maintain data automatically and enable seamless AI workflows with many possibilities ahead. Combine multiple agents to crack complex queries efficiently and with precision. Secure, consistent, and scalable.
