Here's the outlook for October 2024:

Permissions for more than fact sheets

In early October, just a couple of weeks later than originally announced, we'll empower you to grant permission to select user roles for more features unrelated to fact sheets and the meta model.

Users will no longer require full admin permissions to manage specific parts of their work, like managing report collections. This will allow admins to lower the user role from admin to a custom role for users to whom they've delegated particular tasks. Users with such permissions will be granted access to the admin area, which will only include the option to access the respective management of the granted features.

In this first iteration, we'll add permissions for the following features, while further domains (e.g., saved searches, reports, and diagrams) will follow later:

  • Collections

  • Presentations

  • Templates for diagram shape mappings

  • Discovery inbox

  • Portals

  • Surveys

Aggregation and linkage for ServiceNow assets

As technology evolves, businesses accumulate thousands of assets in their CMDB. When you connect your ServiceNow instance with SAP LeanIX, you currently have to manually sift through all versions, patches, and updates to decide which ones should be synced to be able to consider them for obsolescence risk analysis.

To make this easier, we’re releasing a new automatic aggregation in October that will help consolidate assets into one unique fact sheet linked to the reference catalog. This will ensure that the associated lifecycle data always meets the highest quality. The feature will also help remove irrelevant fact sheets from the inventory.

Auto-discover your SAP on-premise applications

To extend SAP LeanIX's capabilities of SAP landscape discovery of cloud applications through SAP Cloud ALM from July 2024, you will soon be able to discover your on-premise solutions through the same integration. From October, admins can set up the automated 'SAP Landscape Discovery' service in the admin area's 'Integrations' section to populate workspaces with data about SAP cloud and on-premise systems together. The scope of already configured cloud discoveries will automatically be extended to on-prem.

Fact sheets created from the discovery inbox will accelerate the discovery and exploration phases for transformations, and they will be in line with our SAP modeling best practices.
