Here's the outlook for May 2024:

Build a story about your architecture with presentations

Sharing a combination of reports and diagrams that visualize a specific aspect of your IT landscape from various angles together in one presentation helps gain and maintain stakeholder involvement. Previously, this required exporting the visualizations as images into slides or other applications.

With the presentations feature coming up next week, you can combine reports and diagrams of any type in a presentation and specify their order for easily accessible insights and data analysis, enhancing the enterprise architecture experience. You can annotate each slide before or during the presentation, switch to a full-screen view, and share it directly in LeanIX to increase executive adoption.

Survey creation by non-admin users

Managing surveys is currently limited to admin users, as the survey editor is placed in the admin area. To democratize the survey creation, we will relocate the surveys to the 'Collaboration' tab in the main navigation bar in May.

This shift empowers users, based on permissions, to manage ongoing surveys, participate in them, and initiate new ones.

At the same time, we'll

  • Introduce a full-screen interface with an enhanced interface offering a more spacious environment for survey design.

  • Provide a new permission setting in the admin area's 'User Roles' to give designated user roles access to the survey editor. By default, the permission will only be assigned to the administrators. This initial release will still need to include fine-grained permissions.

  • Leverage generative AI to let you dynamically generate the survey invite based on the survey content (requires activating the base AI capabilities).

  • Apply the instructive email design of to-do reminders to survey invites, including a central call to action button replacing the conventional URL.

Configurable Shape Libraries for Diagrams

Diagrams are essential to manage and communicate the transformation of your organization's architecture. Although LeanIX supports many shape libraries, our default shape style is used when adding fact sheets from the inventory to the canvas.

Recognizing the benefits of adhering to your established industry or organization's diagramming standards, we aim to streamline your visual modeling in May by letting you define templates for mapping fact sheet types to your preferred choice of shapes, color, et cetera. Admins will be able to manage different shape libraries on the workspace level, and users can select and adapt shape templates for the individual diagram.

SaaS discovery through Microsoft MDCA

A new integration to Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps (MDCA) will extend the available sources of CASB systems to discover SaaS in May. All applications uncovered from this integration will be listed alongside those from other sources in the discovery inbox.

SAP reference data for business capabilities and their recommended applications

SAP provides industry-specific knowledge on best practice business capabilities enriched with recommendations on which SAP Applications can best support each capability.

We plan to integrate this knowledge directly into LeanIX in addition to the business capability catalog. This will give you more targeted guidance when building or improving your business capability map or planning initiatives such as your SAP S/4HANA transformation.

When using LeanIX Architecture and Road Map Planning (formerly BTM) and either linking your existing business capabilities to the SAP reference or importing them, LeanIX can suggest a suitable combination of SAP applications designed to support the specific business capability. Predefined transformations to plan the rollout of the recommended applications can be adopted to accelerate transformation planning.

Manage transformations at scale

At an enterprise level, many applications, interfaces, and technologies require a change to be planned as part of transformation programs (e.g., application modernization) with the Transformation and Road Map Planning product (formerly BTM).

Starting in May, an option for viewing and editing all transformations in a table will ease the process, especially when dealing with many changes.

In the transformation's table view mode, you can see and edit the name, description, and completion dates of the transformation items next to the fact sheets that are involved. Additionally, you can filter transformation items based on transformation type (e.g., 'Rollout Application', 'Change Application Technology') and sort the list by columns to streamline the process.
