Leverage reference data on AI models from the catalog
In addition to the recently released AI Agent Hub and the optional “AI Governance & Adoption” meta model extension, we’ve started extending the content of our reference catalog for IT components with data on AI models to support your AI governance. Throughout the following months, you will find more and more recommended catalog items showing up with a new subtype “AI Model” when creating IT component fact sheets from recommendations or linking them to the catalog. Leveraging this data, you can increase standardization and data quality and better identify where AI models are involved your landscape.
Here’s what this means for you, depending on whether the "AI Governance & Adoption" meta model extension is active in your workspace:
Not yet activated:
To fully benefit, an admin must activate the extension in the admin area. Besides other attributes, it will add the IT component subtype “AI model” to your meta model (see all details on the extension’s SAP Help Portal page). Once activated, use the reference catalog for data on IT components as you know it to add AI models to your inventory.
If you only want to benefit from the AI models in the catalog, add the “AI model” subtype to the meta model manually using the key “aiModel”. With this approach, you ensure staying close to our meta model best practices and benefit from future product developments.
If you don’t want either, there’s no impact, as users can still choose another existing subtype (e.g., software, although not recommended) when creating IT component fact sheets from recommendations with the AI model subtype that doesn’t exist in your workspace.
We advise activating the "AI Governance & Adoption" meta model extension from the optional features in the admin area.
Already activated:
You will still benefit from the new information in the reference catalog, even if you continue using the “LLM” subtype or a custom subtype to manage your AI models instead of adopting the new best practice. The subtype that you have set (e.g. LLM or a custom one) will not be changed or overwritten when you leverage content from the reference catalog.
While it is not mandatory to adopt the key or translation of the new subtype as stated above, we still recommend conducting the changes for the following reason: For future product developments (e.g., potential out-of-the-box integrations), we will only use the key “aiModel”. We have outlined the necessary steps for you to conduct in the SAP Help portal; the steps require a relatively small amount of effort and are easy to complete. However, if you identify roadblocks during the process, please create a support ticket via SAP4Me.
If you have the meta mode extension activated, we have also reached out to your primary workspace admin via email.
