Gain efficiency by creating diagrams from templates
Creating and managing comprehensive free draw and data flow diagrams from scratch can be challenging and time-consuming. To help you become more efficient, we have added the ability to create your most common architectural diagrams from templates. With this initial release, you can create diagram templates consisting of a base fact sheet type (e.g., application) and select relations and related fact sheets (e.g., interfaces, drill-downs, dependencies) that you want to display. The template can then be saved and utilized when new diagrams are created. A common use case for enterprise architects and business stakeholders is creating and reviewing diagrams that share the same components and layout but differ in content. Leveraging these templates will help you accelerate the creation of well-structured, recognizable, and compelling diagram layouts for your architecture. To create new templates and to locate existing ones, navigate to the new menu item "Diagram Templates" within the "Diagrams" tab of your workspace. We added a few pre-defined templates to help you get started.
Looking ahead, we plan to include the option to use the base fact sheet type multiple times in a single template, to apply diagram templates to existing free draw diagrams, to preview templates in the editor, and more advanced layout options.
