Reference catalogs converge into one catalog

The different catalogs in SAP LeanIX converge into one reference catalog with recommendations for various fact sheet types. This breaks down the boundaries between different reference content and enables a more uniform and comprehensive use of data.

Our reference catalog continues to contain best-practice recommendations for business capability, tech category, application (SaaS), and IT component fact sheets (available in workspaces with Technology Risk and Compliance). Merging these different catalogs into a single source of truth brings all this information together in one place.

The alignment of the SaaS and Lifecycle catalogs in February 2024 was the first step in this direction. Now, the previously different catalog names ('SaaS Catalog' and 'Lifecycle Catalog', for example) have been unified into 'Reference Catalog' throughout the different workspace areas. Access to the catalog remains at the same place on the inventory's side panel. Still, there is a dedicated 'Reference Catalog' section with links to reference data for the different fact sheet types.

The range of industry-specific business capability content was recently updated and grew from 4 to 15 different industries, with the reference business architecture being available. We aim to replace the former business capability catalog with the new content in September 2024 and provide guidance on how to best update the capabilities you've already imported.
